My practice explores the liminal space between the real and imagined, infusing the outer landscape with subjective inner perceptions. I use paint expressively to reflect states of awe and wonder, as an invitation for the viewer to momentarily step out of their ‘everyday’ state of mind, and reconnect more intimately with the natural world and themselves. By combining figurative and abstract elements, my work navigates the boundary between the recognisable and unknown, revealing both what is unique to my own psyche and universal to the human condition.
I draw inspiration from personal experience and the fractal patterns found in nature; how they weave together forming infinitely complex tapestries. Through the use of colour, perspective and the raw materiality of paint, I aim to absorb the viewer into an otherworldly vista that touches upon the ineffable.
